Langfang, Xiang He County, Hebei Province, China
GRO designed, in collaboration with the Beijing General Municipal Engineering Design and Research Institute (BMEDI), a new 8,000 square meter high-speed rail station in Langfang, a prefecture-level city in central Hebei Province. The city has a population of 4.36 million. Langfang is located approximately midway between Beijing and Tianjin, with the station being strategically sited to link the cities. The project utilizes a gridded, low horizontal that roof that soars over the buildings large waiting area within, also making it seem quite light. Vertical louvers line the exterior façade to shield sunlight and create some privacy for travelers in the waiting area.
