skn house
SKANEATELES, NEW YORK
2004 - 2006
SKN House is a 5,000 sf private residence newly constructed on a seven acre parcel of former farmland in the Finger Lakes region of Upstate New York. The design of the house is organized around its central feature: a 180 degree view of the lake which is possible from nearly every room in the house. The design for the roof structure utilizes pre-fabricated roof trusses and field-installed modifiers to produce an assymetrically folded zinc-clad roof that optimizes drainage and materially recalls the barn structures in the surrounding farmland. Vertical cedar siding adds texture to the angular volumes.
